The current Estádio da Luz was opened in 2003, replacing the original stadium of the same name that had been Benfica's home since 1954. Built for the 2004 European Championship, it features a distinctive architectural design with a translucent roof and modern facilities. The stadium is renowned for its excellent atmosphere, particularly when filled with Benfica's passionate supporters known as 'Águias' (Eagles).
