Martin Dubravka transfer news: Tottenham sign Burnley goalkeeper on free transfer - BBC Sport

Tottenham Hotspur has completed the signing of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka from Burnley on a free transfer, enhancing their goalkeeping options.

Tottenham Hotspur has finalized a deal to acquire goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on a free transfer, effective upon the expiration of his contract with Burnley on July 1. The 37-year-old Slovakian international has earned 60 caps for his country and brings a wealth of experience from his previous stints at Newcastle United and Manchester United.

Dubravka's Premier League Experience

Last season, Dubravka made 35 appearances for Burnley in the Premier League, showcasing his capabilities as a reliable shot-stopper. Over his career in the league, he has played 197 matches and achieved 51 clean sheets. His addition comes as Tottenham aims to bolster their defense following two consecutive 17th-place finishes in the Premier League.

De Zerbi's Vision for the Team

Martin Dubravka is the fourth signing of the summer for manager Roberto de Zerbi, who previously secured defenders Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson on free transfers, along with Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton for £52 million. De Zerbi expressed his enthusiasm about the signing, stating, "I am very happy because Martin is a goalkeeper with big experience and a strong mentality. He has very important qualities for me and will bring balance, leadership and competitiveness to our dressing room."

As Tottenham continues to strengthen their squad, the future of current goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario remains uncertain, with interest from Serie A clubs. Dubravka's arrival could provide the stability and experience needed as the club looks to improve its standing in the league.

"It's an exciting time for me, a new journey and new experience for me and my family. I'm looking forward to it," Dubravka remarked, highlighting his eagerness to join the club and contribute to its success.
