Western Sydney Wanderers sign German Ferreyra on 3-year deal

Western Sydney Wanderers have officially signed German forward Ferreyra on a three-year deal, enhancing their attacking options for the future.

The Western Sydney Wanderers have announced the signing of defender Germán Ferreyra on a three-year contract. The Argentine centre-back joins the club following a successful stint at Melbourne City, where he played a crucial role in their Championship-winning season.

Successful Tenure at Melbourne City

Ferreyra spent two seasons with Melbourne City, making 61 appearances across all competitions. His contributions were vital during the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League Championship campaign, where he scored key goals, including a late winner against Brisbane Roar and another in the semi-final against Western United, propelling City to the Grand Final. Additionally, he played a significant role in City’s AFC Champions League campaign, participating in nearly every match against top Asian teams.

A Valuable Addition to the Wanderers

As the latest addition to head coach Ufuk Talay's squad, Ferreyra brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Wanderers' defense. After signing his contract, Ferreyra expressed his ambition for the upcoming season, stating, “I hope we can have a competitive season with an improvement on last season and be fighting for the top spot.” He encouraged fans to support the team, emphasizing the potential for success with their backing.

Wanderers Football Director Mal Impiombato highlighted Ferreyra's winning mentality as a key factor in his recruitment, noting that the club seeks players who can instill a winning mindset. Head coach Ufuk Talay also praised Ferreyra's experience in high-pressure situations, asserting that his strength and leadership will be instrumental for the team as they prepare for the new season, starting with a match against Sydney FC.
