Western Sydney Wanderers bid farwell to SEVEN first team players

The Western Sydney Wanderers have bid farewell to seven first team players, marking a significant transition as they look to reshape their squad for the upcoming season.

Western Sydney Wanderers have announced the exit of seven first-team players as new Head Coach Ufuk Talay prepares for the upcoming 2026-27 A-Leagues season.

Key Departures

Among those leaving is midfielder Josh Brillante, who has spent three seasons with the Wanderers, making 66 appearances since his transfer from Melbourne Victory in 2023. Another notable departure is New Zealand international Kosta Barbarouses, currently participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the All Whites. Barbarouses joined the Wanderers from Wellington Phoenix for the 2025-26 season, where he made 28 appearances and netted 11 goals across all competitions.

Additional Player Exits

Midfielder Bozhidar Kraev, who also came from Wellington Phoenix, is leaving after two seasons, having played a crucial role in the Wanderers' journey to the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League Finals Series. The Bulgarian international made 52 appearances and scored 13 goals during his time at the club. Additionally, A-Leagues Champion Alou Kuol is now available for transfer after completing a one-year contract, having scored once in 14 appearances last season.

Defenders Phillip Cancar and Ruon Tongyik are also departing, concluding their second spells with the club. Lastly, A-Leagues Champion Jacob Farrell is returning to Portsmouth FC in the English Championship following the end of his six-month loan with the Wanderers.
