The Western Sydney Wanderers have thanked their departing players for their dedication and contributions. As the team looks ahead to the new season, they reflect on the impact these players have made.

Western Sydney Wanderers FC has expressed gratitude to several players who are leaving the club following the end of their A-League contracts. The departing players include Josh Brillante, Kosta Barbarouses, Bozhidar Kraev, Phillip Cancar, Jacob Farrell, Ruon Tongyik, and Alou Kuol.
Key Departures
Midfielder Josh Brillante concludes his three-season tenure with the Wanderers, having made 66 appearances since his transfer from Melbourne Victory in 2023. Brillante, a former captain at both Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory, played a pivotal role in the team’s success, contributing to their impressive fourth-place finish in the 2024/25 season.
Forward Kosta Barbarouses is also departing after a single season with the Wanderers. During his time at the club, he made 28 appearances and netted 11 goals across all competitions. The New Zealand international joined ahead of the 2025/26 season and made a significant impact with his experience and goal-scoring ability.
Other Notable Exits
Bozhidar Kraev, a Bulgarian international, leaves the Wanderers after two seasons, having made 52 appearances and scored 13 goals in the A-League. He joined from Wellington Phoenix in 2024 and quickly established himself as a key creative player, with notable goals against teams like Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets.
Defender Phillip Cancar returns to the club for the 2025/26 season, marking a total of 23 appearances since his initial stint in 2021/22. Jacob Farrell, who was on loan from Portsmouth, made seven appearances this season before heading back to his English club. Ruon Tongyik finishes his second spell with the Wanderers, totaling 16 appearances since first joining in the 2018/19 season. Lastly, forward Alou Kuol made 14 appearances and scored one goal in his debut season after transferring from Central Coast Mariners.
