MELBOURNE, Australia -- Cortnee Vine is set to make her return to the A-League Women after signing a one-year contract with Melbourne City, the reigning champions, as she aims to secure a spot back in the Matildas squad ahead of the FIFA Women's World Cup. This move comes less than a year before the tournament, following her brief stint with the North Carolina Courage in the NWSL.

Transitioning Back to Australia

Vine's time in the NWSL was limited, as she logged only 88 minutes in two matches before mutually terminating her contract with the Courage in June. This decision has allowed her to return to Australia and join Melbourne City, where she will help fill the void left by several key departures from the team. Notable exits include Matildas players Holly McNamara, Bryleeh Henry, and Leah Davidson, who have all moved to European clubs, along with significant contributors Laura Hughes, Taylor Otto, and Alexia Apostolakis.
