Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the signing of Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United for a club-record fee that could reach £100 million. This acquisition marks a significant addition to Spurs' squad as they continue to bolster their roster ahead of the 2026-27 season, surpassing £200 million in total spending.

New Midfield Duo

Tonali will join Mateus Fernandes, who was signed from relegated West Ham, to form a revamped midfield partnership valued at £185 million. In addition to these signings, Tottenham has also secured Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton for £50 million, while Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, and Martin Dubravka have joined the team as free agents, indicating a proactive approach in the current transfer window.

Having narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing just two points above the drop zone, Spurs are aiming for a stronger performance in the upcoming campaign. During his time at Newcastle, Tonali made 110 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists. He played a pivotal role in helping the club secure their first domestic trophy in 70 years by winning the EFL Cup final against Liverpool in the 2024-25 season.
