Tottenham sign Dubravka amid Vicario exit speculation

Tottenham Hotspur has signed goalkeeper Martin Dubravka as rumors swirl about Guglielmo Vicario's potential exit from the club. This move highlights Spurs' strategy to bolster their squad.

Tottenham Hotspur have officially signed goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on a free transfer following his departure from Burnley, amid ongoing speculation regarding Guglielmo Vicario's future with the club.

Dubravka's Impressive Track Record

Last season, Dubravka played for Burnley, where he stood out as the busiest goalkeeper in the Premier League, making 127 saves and facing shots that amounted to 67.7 expected goals (xG). This performance was notable as it surpassed that of any other goalkeeper in the league by a margin of 15 xG.

Spurs' Goalkeeping Situation

With Dubravka's arrival, he is set to serve as the second-choice goalkeeper behind Antonin Kinsky. This move comes as Vicario has been linked to a potential return to Italy, with several Serie A clubs reportedly interested in acquiring him.

Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi expressed his satisfaction with the signing, stating, "I am very happy because Martin is a goalkeeper with big experience and a strong mentality. He has very important qualities for me and will bring balance, leadership and competitiveness to our dressing room." Dubravka himself shared his enthusiasm, saying, "It's an exciting time for me, a new journey and new experience for my family and me. I'm looking forward to it."

Tottenham, who narrowly avoided relegation last season by finishing 17th, have been active in the transfer market, also securing the signings of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers, in addition to a reported £52 million investment in Jan Paul van Hecke. The club is also in discussions with Newcastle United regarding a significant transfer for midfielder Sandro Tonali.
