Türkiye’s Trabzonspor has announced the start of transfer talks for Egyptian football star Salah. This move is part of the club's strategy to enhance their team ahead of the new season.
Turkish club Trabzonspor has officially initiated discussions to sign Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah, who is currently a free agent. The announcement was made late Tuesday, as Trabzonspor confirmed the commencement of negotiations in a statement directed to the Istanbul Stock Exchange, which was also published on Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform.
Details of Salah's Arrival
In addition to the transfer talks, Trabzonspor revealed that Salah is expected to arrive at Istanbul Atatürk Airport General Aviation Terminal at 12 pm local time (0900 GMT) on Wednesday. He is also set to travel to Trabzon later that evening.
Salah's Impressive Career
The 34-year-old forward announced in March his decision to leave Liverpool FC at the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season. During his tenure at Liverpool, Salah played a crucial role in the team's success, contributing to their UEFA Champions League victory, two Premier League titles, a FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and two League Cup titles. He became Liverpool's all-time leading Premier League goalscorer and holds the record for the highest-scoring foreign player in Premier League history, along with being the all-time leading African scorer in the UEFA Champions League.
Salah's accolades include two CAF African Footballer of the Year awards, two BBC African Footballer of the Year awards, multiple Premier League Golden Boots, and numerous selections in FIFA and continental teams of the year. Unconfirmed reports suggest that he is in talks for a two-year contract with an annual salary of €17 million ($19.6 million).
