Sydney FC midfielder Paul Okon-Engstler has officially transferred to German Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln, securing a seven-figure fee for the Sky Blues. This move marks one of the most significant departures for the club in recent years, following Okon-Engstler's impressive rise over the past year.

Rapid Ascent in the A-League

The 21-year-old Socceroo made his professional debut for Sydney FC in the Australia Cup and quickly established himself as one of the standout young talents in the Isuzu UTE A-League. Over the course of the season, he made 30 appearances for the club, contributing to their run to the Grand Final.

Okon-Engstler's growth in the league was further highlighted by his debut for the Socceroos against Venezuela in 2025, followed by participation in all four matches for Australia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
