Sydney FC has bolstered its attacking options for the 2026/27 A-Leagues season by signing Nigerian striker Oriola Sunday on a season-long loan from Japanese club RB Omiya. The 23-year-old forward will be available for selection in the upcoming Australia Cup quarter-final against SD Raiders on August 18.

Career Progression

Oriola Sunday began his professional journey with Tokushima Vortis in the J2 League before moving to RB Omiya, where he was signed permanently after an initial loan spell. His contributions were pivotal in helping Omiya secure the J3 League title in 2024. During his tenure with the club, Sunday recorded an impressive tally of 20 goals and 10 assists, contributing to Omiya's sixth-place finish in the J2 League last season.

Sydney FC Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo expressed his excitement about the new signing, highlighting Sunday’s attributes. “Oriola is a young striker with tremendous pace, excellent movement and a real willingness to work for the team,” Kisnorbo stated.
