Sporting Kansas City has announced the acquisition of 24-year-old forward Capita Capemba. The addition aims to strengthen the team's offensive capabilities.

Sporting Kansas City has announced the acquisition of 24-year-old Angolan forward Capita Capemba from Radomiak Radom in Poland. Capemba has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Major League Soccer (MLS) club, which extends through the 2028-2029 season, with an option for the 2029-2030 season. He will take up an international roster spot, pending the receipt of his P1 visa and International Transfer Certificate.

Capemba's Impressive Track Record

Capemba arrives at Sporting KC after establishing himself as a notable attacking player in Poland, where he scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 38 appearances for Radomiak Radom over the past two seasons. David Lee, President of Soccer Operations and General Manager, expressed enthusiasm about Capemba's addition, highlighting his speed, directness, and versatility across the frontline. Lee noted that Capemba's experience in various leagues and countries, combined with his current form, makes him a valuable asset for the team.

A Journey Through European Football

Born in Angola, Capemba began his football journey with Academia de Futebol de Angola, C.D. Marinha, and Primeiro de Agosto in Luanda. He moved to Europe in January 2020, joining Portuguese club C.D. Trofense. After a brief stint in Portugal, he played for Lille B in France and spent time on loan at Mouscron in Belgium during the 2020-2021 season. Following his return to Lille B, Capemba had a successful loan spell back at Trofense, where he scored four goals, including a crucial hat trick on the final day of the season to help avoid relegation.

In the summer of 2022, Capemba made a permanent move to Estrela da Amadora in Portugal, contributing two goals and one assist in his first season. He then spent the 2023-2024 season on loan at Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel, where he scored once in 21 appearances. Capemba's journey continued with a permanent transfer to Radomiak Radom ahead of the 2024-2025 season, where he made an immediate impact by scoring six goals and assisting once in 17 appearances during his first season in the Ekstraklasa.

As he joins Sporting KC, Capemba brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record, having already recorded six goals and one assist in 21 appearances during the ongoing 2025-2026 season in Poland. His arrival is anticipated to bolster Sporting's attacking options as they look to enhance their performance in the league.
