Transfer Negotiations Underway

While no deal has been finalized, negotiations between the Colorado Rapids and Hull City are ongoing, with reports suggesting a transfer fee in the range of $35 million to $38 million. This potential fee would surpass the previous Australian transfer record of $23 million, set by Harry Souttar's move to Leicester City in 2023. If the transfer goes through, Herrington would become the sole Socceroo in the Premier League for the upcoming season.

Hull City Owner's Comments

Hull City owner Acun Ilicali confirmed the club's interest in Herrington during an interview with the BBC, stating, "Yes," when asked if the young defender was on their radar. He praised Herrington's potential, calling him "a very young boy" with "very big potential" and added, "I think [a] future star." Ilicali indicated that a decision regarding the transfer could be made within a week.

Herrington's contract with the Rapids runs until 2029, with an option for an additional year. He played a full match on Sunday, contributing to a 1-0 victory over Austin FC, which could be his last appearance for the club. As the Rapids do not play again until August 16, it seems likely that this match marked his farewell.

If Herrington's transfer is completed, he will join fellow Socceroos Patrick Beach and Paul Okon-Engstler, who have also secured moves to top-five leagues following the World Cup.
