Perth Glory has announced that captain Adam Taggart has left the club to pursue an opportunity abroad. The 33-year-old forward returned to his hometown club for a third stint in 2023 and has since become the all-time leading goalscorer in A-League history for Glory.

Taggart's Achievements at Glory

During his time with the club, Taggart consistently demonstrated his scoring prowess, winning or sharing the Golden Boot for four consecutive seasons. He also earned two Men's MGP Awards, highlighting his significant contributions on the field. Before his departure, Taggart expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the club and its supporters, stating, “I want to start with thanking everyone at Perth Glory FC. All of the Members, players and staff who have been there throughout the last few years mean a lot to me.”

A Mutual Decision

Taggart acknowledged the mutual agreement with the club regarding his departure, emphasizing that it was the right time for him to move on. He added, “I am looking forward to seeing some young boys step up and supporting from afar.” In response, Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis praised Taggart’s impact at the club, stating, “This move represents a fantastic opportunity for Adam at this stage of his career.” Lazaridis also clarified that the decision was amicable, countering any inaccurate reports about the nature of the departure.
