Sasa Ognenovski has officially taken over as the head coach of Macarthur FC, signing a two-year contract. He aims to bring fresh strategies and success to the club.

The Macarthur Bulls have officially appointed Sasa Ognenovski as their new head coach, succeeding Mile Sterjovski. The former Socceroo has signed a two-year contract that will see him lead the team through the 2026/27 season and into the 2027/28 campaign.

Ognenovski's Return to the A-League

At 46 years old, Ognenovski brings a wealth of experience back to the A-League, having previously played for clubs such as Brisbane Roar, Adelaide United, and Sydney FC during the league's formative years. His playing career includes notable achievements, such as winning the AFC Champions League with Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma in 2010. That same year, he was recognized as the Asian Footballer of the Year by the Asian Football Confederation and earned 22 caps for the Socceroos.

Vision for the Future

Before taking the helm at Macarthur, Ognenovski served as the Football Director at NPL Victoria club Preston Lions, where he furthered his coaching development. As he prepares for the upcoming A-League Men season, Ognenovski expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “It is a privilege to be working at the highest level of football in Australia, and I understand the responsibility that comes with representing this club, its supporters and the wider community.”

He emphasized the shared vision with the club's leadership to establish a strong football program and high professional standards. “I believe there is enormous potential here,” he added, highlighting his excitement about shaping the club's future. Ognenovski promised Bulls fans “relentless effort, total commitment and an entertaining brand of football,” aiming to create a team that competes fiercely and reflects the club's values on the pitch.
