Sailors bolster attack with signing of Ilhan Fandi - Lion City Sailors FC
Lion City Sailors FC has officially signed Ilhan Fandi, a move aimed at bolstering their attacking options for the upcoming season. This strategic addition is expected to enhance the team's performance on the field.

The Lion City Sailors FC have officially announced the signing of Singapore international Ilhan Fandi on a two-year deal, as the club aims to enhance its attacking lineup for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
Ilhan's Journey and Experience
At just 23 years old, Ilhan Fandi returns to Singapore after gaining valuable experience in Belgium and Thailand. He began his European journey with KMSK Deinze in December 2022 and later joined BG Pathum United in July 2024. His notable performances earned him the Young Player of the Tournament accolade at the 2024/25 ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup, and he spent the previous season on loan at Buriram United.
This signing represents a homecoming for Ilhan, who is the third son of Singapore football legend Fandi Ahmad. He first made his mark in the Singapore Premier League (SPL) in 2022, where he was named Young Player of the Year after scoring 17 goals, making him the league's top local scorer, and helping Albirex Niigata (S) secure the league title.
International Recognition
Ilhan has also made significant contributions on the international stage. In a crucial AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Hong Kong last November, he played a pivotal role by coming off the bench to assist Shawal Anuar's equaliser and then scoring a remarkable long-range winner, leading Singapore to the Asian Cup for the first time on merit.
What He Brings to the Team
Known for his intelligent movement and technical skills, Ilhan is more than just a goal scorer. He effectively links play, creates opportunities for teammates, and remains composed in critical situations. Sailors Director of Football Luka Lalić, who has known Ilhan since childhood, expressed confidence in the forward's readiness to advance his career. Lalić highlighted Ilhan's maturity, work ethic, and understanding of the game, attributing his growth to his overseas experiences.
Ilhan himself is eager to work under Head Coach Jesús Casas and is looking forward to playing regular high-level football. He believes that this opportunity will be instrumental in his development as he prepares for the AFC Asian Cup.
