Lawrence Shankland has realized his lifelong ambition of joining Rangers after completing a transfer from Heart of Midlothian. The deal, which both clubs have described as being for "undisclosed terms," marks a significant move for the Scotland striker, who has been a standout player for Hearts.

Shankland's Journey to Rangers

The 30-year-old forward, who captained Hearts and was their leading scorer, has signed a two-year contract with the option for an additional year. Shankland's career at Tynecastle saw him net 88 goals in 171 appearances over four seasons. This past season, he led Hearts to a second-place finish in the Scottish Premiership, just behind Celtic, while Rangers finished third, eight points adrift of Hearts.

Despite missing out on Champions League qualifiers with Hearts, Shankland expressed his enthusiasm for joining Rangers, stating, "Rangers is my boyhood club and it has always been a dream to play here." He emphasized his eagerness to contribute to the club's ambitions of winning silverware more consistently.

A Proven Goalscorer

Shankland's transfer had been anticipated for some time, as he was linked with Rangers during his previous contract negotiations last summer. He noted that it "feels like a long time coming" given the frequent rumors surrounding a potential move. During his time at Hearts, he scored 20 goals in 34 matches, including four against Rangers, showcasing his ability to perform in high-stakes situations.

Rangers head coach Danny Rohl praised Shankland's quality, leadership, and work ethic, highlighting his impressive goalscoring record in Scotland. Rohl believes that Shankland's character and experience will be invaluable to the team as they aim to return to winning ways.
