Orlando City SC has officially re-signed forward Daryl Dike, bringing him back to Central Florida as part of a free agency deal that extends through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, with an option for 2027-28. Dike, who was the fifth overall pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, returns to the club where he began his professional career.

Transaction Details

As part of the agreement, Orlando City SC has transferred $75,000 in 2027 General Allocation Money (GAM) to Seattle Sounders FC to secure Dike's Discovery Priority. Additionally, Seattle could receive another $75,000 in GAM if Dike meets specific performance-based metrics.

Ricardo Moreira, the General Manager and Sporting Director of Orlando City SC, expressed enthusiasm about Dike's return, stating, "Daryl is a player our club and our fans know well, and we're very excited to welcome him back to Orlando." Moreira highlighted Dike's strengths, including his physical presence and ability to contribute to the team's offensive play.

Dike, 26, comes back to Orlando after spending five seasons with West Bromwich Albion F.C. in England's EFL Championship, where he recorded 43 goals and nine assists in 138 professional appearances. Reflecting on his return, Dike said, "I'm thrilled to be back where it all started. Orlando is where I first got the opportunity to play professionally, and returning here feels like coming home."

During his initial time with Orlando City, Dike made 41 appearances, starting 33 matches, and scored 19 goals along with seven assists. He notably led the team with 11 goals during the 2021 season. On the international stage, Dike has represented the U.S. Men's National Team 10 times, scoring three goals and contributing to the team's victory in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup.

Orlando City SC is set to resume MLS action on July 22 against the San Jose Earthquakes before hosting Nashville SC at Inter&Co Stadium on July 25. Both matches will be broadcast live on Apple TV, with tickets for the Nashville game currently available.
