Sevilla FC has officially confirmed the signing of Giorgi Kochorashvili, who will remain with the club until June 30, 2030. The Georgian midfielder joins the team from Sporting Clube de Portugal and is set to travel with his new teammates to Bilbao this afternoon, where Sevilla will aim for their second consecutive victory in LaLiga EA Sports after a comeback win against Rayo in their season opener.
Career Journey
Kochorashvili, born in Tbilisi, Georgia, on June 29, 1999, began his football career at FC Saburtalo, making his first-team debut in 2017. He moved to Spain in the summer of 2017 at the age of 18, signing with Girona FC, where he initially played for their B team, CF Peralada. After a season in Segunda B, he joined the Levante UD B team for the 2019/20 season, eventually making his first-team debut in the 36th matchday against Athletic Club.
Over the next two seasons, Kochorashvili continued to play primarily with Levante's B team while making occasional appearances for the first team. In search of more playing time, he was loaned to CD Castellón for the 2022/23 season, where he had a standout year, participating in 40 matches and scoring four goals, helping the team reach the promotion playoffs. Returning to Levante in the summer of 2023, he played a crucial role in their promotion to LaLiga in the 2024/25 season, which led to his renewal with the club. However, he later transferred to Sporting de Portugal, where he played 26 matches across various competitions last season.
International Experience
Kochorashvili has represented Georgia at the senior level 26 times since making his debut in a EURO 2024 qualifying match against Norway in September 2023. He played every minute for his national team during the tournament in Germany, where they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Spain. He scored his first international goal in September 2024 against the Czech Republic during a UEFA Nations League match. Notably, he is the first Georgian player in the history of Sevilla FC.
This signing marks a significant addition to Sevilla's squad as they look to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season.
