Werder Bremen has officially announced the signing of Ludovit Reis, the former vice-captain of Hamburger SV, from Club Brugge. The 26-year-old Dutch midfielder returns to German football after just one season in Belgium, where his time was marred by injury and limited playing opportunities.

Transfer Details

The financial terms of the deal are particularly favorable for Werder Bremen, as they will not pay a guaranteed transfer fee. Instead, Club Brugge will receive performance-related bonuses and a share of any future transfer fee. This move comes just a year after Brugge acquired Reis from Hamburg for approximately €6 million.

Reis's Journey in Belgium

Reis's stint at Club Brugge did not unfold as anticipated. After a shoulder injury disrupted his season, he found himself sidelined and ultimately fell out of favor with the coaching staff. According to Transfermarkt, he made only 12 competitive appearances, split evenly between starts and substitute appearances. His market value has since dropped from €7 million to around €3 million.

Having trained away from Brugge's first team, Reis has not played a competitive match since January 16. Despite this lack of recent match rhythm, he brings valuable experience from his time in German football. During his four seasons with Hamburger SV, he made 129 appearances and scored 20 goals, contributing significantly to the club's promotion to the Bundesliga in 2025.
