AS Roma has officially confirmed the acquisition of centre-forward Santiago Castro from Bologna in a permanent transfer deal valued at €35 million, plus bonuses. This signing marks Roma's first addition of the summer transfer window.

Castro's transfer includes a 10% sell-on clause for Bologna. The young forward has signed a five-year contract with Roma, which will keep him at the Stadio Olimpico until the summer of 2031. He has opted to wear the number 9 jersey in his inaugural season with the club.

Castro's Performance History

During his time at Bologna, Castro made a significant impact, featuring in 105 matches and scoring 22 goals. In his first full Serie A season (2024-25), he netted eight goals and provided five assists across 36 appearances. He followed that up with another solid performance in the 2025-26 season, contributing seven goals and three assists in 35 league games.

In a related move, Roma's Artem Dovbyk is expected to join Bologna on an initial loan deal, which includes an option to buy for approximately €17 million. Castro is anticipated to compete with Donyell Malen for the starting centre-forward position under manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
