Official: Milan receive €10m boost as Genoa confirm Colombo transfer - Football Italia

AC Milan has received a €10 million boost following Genoa's confirmation of the transfer of striker Colombo. This deal enhances Milan's financial capabilities for future signings.

Genoa has officially confirmed the permanent signing of striker Lorenzo Colombo from AC Milan, following a productive loan period during the 2025-26 season. This transfer is expected to provide Milan with a financial boost of €10 million.

Colombo's Successful Loan Spell

Colombo joined Genoa on loan at the start of the 2025-26 season, with an obligation to buy contingent on certain conditions. Reports indicated that the clause would be activated if Genoa managed to remain in Serie A and Colombo scored five or more league goals. The 24-year-old striker has exceeded expectations, netting seven goals in 37 appearances this season.

Long-Term Commitment

Genoa announced that Colombo has signed a three-year contract, which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029. This marks Colombo's first permanent departure from Milan, where he had been a part of the club for 16 years. Despite limited first-team opportunities at Milan, having made only five appearances, he has gained valuable experience through multiple loan spells at clubs including Cremonese, SPAL, Lecce, Monza, Empoli, and most recently, Genoa.

In a statement on the Genoa website, Colombo expressed his enthusiasm for the move, stating, “I wanted to form a bond with a club, a team and a place like this and I will do my best to repay the trust and support that the club, coach, my teammates and the fans have shown me.” He added, “I’m happy to continue playing in the Rossoblu jersey. Genoa is Genoa. I’m obsessed with the atmosphere that we see in the stadium every game and I’m aware of the heritage that we represent for tens of thousands of supporters.”
