In a pre-season friendly at Murrayfield Stadium, Newcastle United suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Everton, marking Matthias Jaissle's second match in charge of the Magpies.

Everton Takes Control

The match saw Newcastle start with promise, but Everton quickly turned the tide. The Toffees took the lead in the 27th minute when Thierno Barry initiated a counter-attack. Despite a strong tackle from Lewis Hall, Harrison Armstrong delivered a clever reverse pass to the striker, who finished neatly into the bottom-right corner.

Everton doubled their advantage just nine minutes later after Joelinton fouled Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the penalty area. Iliman Ndiaye, who had previously tested Newcastle's goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek, calmly converted the penalty to put Everton firmly in control.

George Shines for Everton

In the second half, Everton continued to dominate, with Tyrique George playing a pivotal role. He set up teammate Hayden Hackney for two significant runs into the box before scoring a stunning goal himself. Receiving a pass from Armstrong, George turned and fired a precise shot into the left-hand corner, showcasing his talent and potential.

Newcastle managed to pull one back late in the game through Harvey Barnes, but the Magpies appeared to be lacking in preparation with only 11 days remaining before the start of their Premier League campaign.

As Everton prepares for their final pre-season match against Lille, Newcastle will face Bayer Leverkusen and Strasbourg in their upcoming fixtures.
