Newcastle Jets sign Oscar Gonzalez on two-year deal from APIA
Newcastle Jets have officially signed Oscar Gonzalez from APIA on a two-year deal. The addition of the talented player aims to enhance the team's performance in the league.

The Newcastle Jets have secured the services of promising young forward Oscar Gonzalez, signing him to a two-year contract from APIA Leichhardt. The 17-year-old has garnered attention as one of Australia's most exciting young talents, having made a significant impact in the National Premier Leagues (NPL) NSW.
Impressive Rise and Performance
Gonzalez's ascent in football began when he made his debut for APIA Leichhardt during the 2025 Australian Championship, where he scored at just 16 years old against Bayswater City. His performance has continued to impress, as he has netted 12 goals in 23 appearances across all competitions this season, showcasing his potential as a standout attacking player.
Excitement and Expectations
After signing his first professional contract in the A-Leagues, Gonzalez expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Jets, stating, “I’m excited for this new chapter in my career. I’m honoured to be joining the Newcastle Jets, and I can’t wait to get started. Let’s go!”
Gonzalez's addition follows the recent signing of Joe Lolley from Sydney FC, further strengthening the Jets' squad. Head coach Mark Milligan praised Gonzalez, highlighting his goal-scoring instinct, work ethic, and potential to develop into a fantastic footballer. This recruitment comes at a crucial time for the Jets, as they look to fill the gap left by the departure of Young Football of the Year Eli Adams, who is moving to Japan.
With the signing of Gonzalez, along with other new players such as Nikos Vergos, Zane Schreiber, and Patrick Wood, the Jets are actively enhancing their roster ahead of a challenging season that includes participation in both the Isuzu UTE A-League and the AFC Champions League Elite.
