Mohamed Salah joins Trabzonspor on €17M-a-season deal
In a surprising transfer, Mohamed Salah has signed with Trabzonspor for €17 million per season. This move adds a new chapter to the star's illustrious career.
Turkish club Trabzonspor has officially announced the signing of Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah on a lucrative deal worth €17 million ($19.6 million) per season. The announcement was made on Thursday through a filing submitted to Borsa Istanbul and published on Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
Contract Details
Under the terms of the agreement, Salah will earn an annual salary of €10 million, along with a signing payment of €7 million for each season. Additionally, he will have the opportunity to earn conditional bonuses, although the specifics regarding their value and performance criteria have not been disclosed by the club.
Image Rights and Agency Fees
As part of the contract, Salah will also benefit from an image-rights agreement, which grants him a 20% share of the proceeds from merchandise featuring his name sold through Trabzonspor’s retail operations. Furthermore, the club will pay an agency fee that amounts to 5% of Salah’s gross remuneration.
Trabzonspor had previously indicated that transfer negotiations with Salah were underway, sharing a video of him wearing the club's claret-and-blue No. 61 shirt while on a plane. In the video, Salah expressed his excitement, stating, “Trabzon, are you ready? I can hear you. See you very soon. Everywhere is Trabzon.” This transfer marks one of the most significant in the history of the Turkish Super Lig.
