Melbourne Victory has officially signed striker Harrison Sawyer on a two-year contract as they prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 Isuzu UTE A-League season. The 29-year-old joins the club after a successful tenure with Macarthur Bulls, where he scored 13 goals over the past two seasons.
Exciting New Chapter
After agreeing to terms that will keep him at Victory until 2028, Sawyer expressed his enthusiasm about joining what he considers "the biggest club in Australia." He stated, "To sign for... the biggest club in Australia, is such an exciting moment and the start of what I hope to be a special next chapter in my career." Sawyer is eager to return to a city he knows well and looks forward to playing at AAMI Park, promising to give his all for the supporters.
A Diverse Career Path
Since making his A-Leagues debut with the Newcastle Jets in 2017, Sawyer has had a varied career, playing in the Philippines, Hong Kong, India, and Finland. His standout period came with NPL Victoria side South Melbourne, where he not only won the NPL Victoria title but also secured the Golden Boot in both 2022 and 2024.
John Didulica, Melbourne Victory's Director of Football, welcomed Sawyer's arrival, highlighting his effectiveness and impact across different leagues. He noted, "Harry has been a hugely effective player in recent seasons... his football journey and consistent performances demonstrate significant resilience." Didulica believes Sawyer will provide valuable attributes to the team's attacking options.
With Sawyer's signing, he becomes the second addition to the squad under new Head Coach Giovanni Savarese, following the acquisition of former Melbourne City player Harry Shillington.
