Melbourne City has made a significant addition to their squad by signing Socceroos winger Awer Mabil on a three-year contract. This move marks Mabil's return to Australian football after more than ten years abroad, having recently completed a transfer from Spanish Segunda Division club CD Castellón.

Impressive Career

The 29-year-old brings a wealth of experience to Melbourne City, having made over 300 appearances in European competitions, including the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. Mabil enjoyed a notable seven-year stint with Danish club FC Midtjylland, where he scored 20 goals and provided 27 assists in 146 matches, contributing to the team's success in winning three major trophies.

Mabil's strong club performances led to his debut for the Socceroos in 2018. Since then, he has earned 39 caps for Australia, netting 10 goals and representing the nation in the 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cups. At Melbourne City, he will join fellow Socceroos Aziz Behich and Mathew Leckie as the team gears up for the 2026/27 season.
