Melbourne City FC has announced the signing of Matildas defender Jessika Nash on a two-year contract, marking her return to Australia from U.S. Sassuolo Calcio in Italy.

Young Talent Returns Home

At just 21 years old, Nash is regarded as one of Australia’s most promising young defenders. She brings with her a wealth of experience, both domestically and internationally, having earned four senior caps with the Matildas. Nash began her professional career with Canberra United in 2020, amassing 85 appearances in the Ninja A-League over five seasons. Her notable achievements include helping Central Coast Mariners secure the Championship in the 2024/25 season before her move to Italy's Serie A Femminile.

Expressing her enthusiasm about joining Melbourne City, Nash stated, “Melbourne City is a Club that has consistently set high standards and competed for trophies, so I’m really excited to be joining this group.” She highlighted the club's ambition, the quality of the squad, and the chance to compete for silverware in both Australia and Asia as key factors in her decision to return. With Nash's signing, Melbourne City has now completed five off-season recruitments, following the arrivals of Cortnee Vine, Melina Ayres, Avaani Prakash, and Taylor Ray. Additionally, first-team players Aideen Keane and Karly Roestbakken have renewed their contracts, solidifying the squad under Head Coach Michael Matricciani.
