Marcos Senesi: Tottenham confirm signing of defender after Bournemouth exit - BBC Sport

Tottenham Hotspur has confirmed the signing of defender Marcos Senesi after his exit from Bournemouth. This move aims to bolster Spurs' defensive options for the upcoming season.

Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the signing of defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer following his exit from Bournemouth. The 29-year-old Argentine will finalize his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 1, pending international clearance.

Senesi's Departure from Bournemouth

Senesi, who made 37 appearances in the Premier League during the 2025/26 season, opted to leave Bournemouth after turning down three contract offers from the club earlier in the season. Despite being capped three times by Argentina, he was not selected for the national squad for this summer's World Cup. Expressing his enthusiasm about joining Tottenham, Senesi described it as a "very special feeling." He emphasized the club's commitment to him and expressed eagerness to contribute to their ongoing projects.

Manager's Confidence in Senesi

Manager Roberto de Zerbi highlighted Senesi's potential to enhance the team's defensive capabilities, especially after two consecutive 17th-place finishes in the Premier League. He praised Senesi's ability to play in a possession-based system, his game-reading skills, and his strong mentality. De Zerbi is looking forward to working with Senesi and believes he will make a significant impact on the team.

Senesi is the second signing for Tottenham this summer, following Andy Robertson's arrival from Liverpool on a free transfer. Additionally, the club confirmed that out-of-contract midfielder Yves Bissouma will depart this summer after joining Spurs in 2022 for a reported fee of £30 million and making 90 Premier League appearances.
