As a precaution, Nagelsmann confirmed that Neuer will not participate in the upcoming friendly against Finland. “In the coaching staff we decided that he will not play on Sunday and we will give him a bit more rest,” Nagelsmann stated, emphasizing that Neuer was in agreement with the decision.

Despite his earlier retirement, Nagelsmann expressed the importance of having Neuer back in the squad, stating that discussions led to the conclusion that the three best goalkeepers in Germany should be included in the World Cup team. “We have decided after many discussions that the three best goalkeepers in Germany had to go to the World Cup,” he explained.
