Man Utd: First Carrick signing gets 'here we go' treatment as €45m deal 'agreed'

Manchester United has finalized a €45 million agreement for their first signing under Michael Carrick. This move signals a significant step in the club's rebuilding efforts.

Manchester United has reportedly reached an agreement to sign Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta, with notable journalists David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano confirming the transfer. This move marks a significant step for United as they look to bolster their midfield following the departure of Casemiro and uncertainty surrounding Manuel Ugarte's future at the club.

Transfer Details

According to The Athletic's Andy Mitten, while a full agreement was not yet finalized, he anticipated that the deal would be completed within the next couple of days. Mitten stated, “I think, and I have spoken to people in Manchester, in Bergamo, and in other Italian cities, that an agreement is very, very close, so there’s been compromises.” He expressed confidence that the transfer would be finalized within 24 to 48 hours.

Ornstein later confirmed that an agreement had indeed been reached, reporting that the deal includes a fixed fee of €40.5 million plus €4.5 million in potential bonuses. Personal terms have reportedly been settled on a four-plus-one-year contract, with a medical examination still pending. Ornstein noted, “Manchester United reach agreement with Atalanta to sign Ederson.”

Ederson's Career and Future

Fabrizio Romano also chimed in, stating, “BREAKING: Éderson to Manchester United, here we go!” He confirmed that the total package for the transfer amounts to €45 million, including add-ons. Ederson is set to sign a four-year deal with an option for an additional year. The 26-year-old midfielder has been a target for Premier League clubs for several years, with Tottenham previously showing interest during Antonio Conte's tenure. However, it is Manchester United that has secured his signature, bringing an end to his four-year spell at Atalanta, where he made 180 appearances.

Although Ederson was included in Brazil's preliminary squad for the World Cup, he did not make the final cut for the tournament. As United prepares for the upcoming season, they are also reportedly considering adding another high-profile midfielder to their ranks, indicating a proactive approach to their transfer strategy.
