Scott Pendlebury, a celebrated figure in Australian rules football and the games record holder for the AFL, is set to join the Gold Coast Suns for the 2027 season. The move comes as Pendlebury transitions from his long-standing career with the Collingwood Football Club, where he has made a significant impact over 21 years.

Pendlebury will join the Suns as an unrestricted free agent, signing a multi-year contract that will see him take on a hybrid role, combining both playing and coaching responsibilities. The 38-year-old midfielder is expected to play for two seasons before shifting into an assistant coaching position for an additional two years. This arrangement is reminiscent of Luke Hodge's move to the Brisbane Lions in 2018, where he played a crucial role in mentoring a young squad.
