Real Madrid has bolstered its squad by signing Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan for €20 million, marking the club's fourth acquisition ahead of the 2026-27 season. This follows the arrivals of Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, and Marc Cucurella.

Successful Stint at Inter

Dumfries joined Inter in 2021 from PSV Eindhoven and played a pivotal role in the team's success, contributing to two Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia victories. During his time in Italy, he participated in 207 matches, netting 27 goals and providing 22 assists. He also helped Inter reach two Champions League finals, although the team fell short against Manchester City in 2023 and Paris Saint-Germain in 2025.

Challenges and Future Prospects

Despite his impressive track record, Dumfries faced challenges last season, making only 22 starts due to an ankle injury that sidelined him for three months. Under the management of Cristian Chivu, Inter achieved a domestic double in the 2025-26 season. Now, Dumfries has signed a four-year contract with Real Madrid, where he is expected to compete for a starting position at right-back.

His competitive debut for Madrid could take place against Real Sociedad during the opening weekend of the new LaLiga season, scheduled for August 15 or 16. With this signing, Madrid continues to reshape its squad as they prepare for their first campaign under José Mourinho since the 2012-13 season.
