Brighton & Hove Albion has officially secured the signing of Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur in a record-breaking deal for the club. The transfer fee is reported to be €54 million, with an additional €4.7 million in potential add-ons and a sell-on clause included. The 19-year-old centre-back is recognized as one of Europe's most promising young defenders, especially following a successful loan spell at Hamburg last season.

Impressive Loan Spell

During his time at Hamburg, Vuskovic made 28 appearances in the Bundesliga, contributing six goals and helping the team avoid relegation after their promotion. Although he was expected to play a significant role for Tottenham in the upcoming season, manager Roberto De Zerbi did not consider him a first-choice option. Vuskovic expressed a strong desire to join Brighton, where he anticipates regular first-team action and has a positive relationship with coach Fabian Hürzeler. He stated, "It was always Brighton."

Vuskovic's market value experienced a remarkable increase over the past year, rising from €12 million at the start of last season to €60 million currently. This €48 million jump ranks him among the top players in terms of market value growth, with only nine players seeing a larger increase. He holds the distinction of having the second highest rise in market value among defenders globally and is currently the joint-second most valuable U21 centre-back, alongside Dean Huijsen. Barcelona's Pau Cubarsi leads this category with a valuation of €80 million.
