Lawrence Shankland has made a significant move from Hearts to Rangers, marking a notable transfer in the summer window. The deal was confirmed after Ibrox manager Danny Rohl expressed a strong desire to secure the talented striker, who has been a standout performer for Hearts.

Shankland's Impressive Season

The 30-year-old forward had an exceptional season with Hearts, scoring 20 goals and providing six assists across 34 matches. He played a crucial role in the team's title challenge, scoring the opening goal in a dramatic final match against Celtic, although they ultimately fell short. Despite initial uncertainty about his future following the arrival of manager Derek McInnes last summer, Shankland signed a three-year contract extension with Hearts. However, a release clause in that contract allowed him to leave this summer for a nominal fee, paving the way for his transfer to Rangers.

Joining His Boyhood Club

Shankland, a lifelong Rangers fan, quickly agreed to terms with the club after the opportunity arose. He even cut short his holiday to finalize the two-year deal, which includes an option for a third year. He will officially join Rangers on June 15 when the transfer window opens and will wear the number seven shirt, as the number nine jersey he previously wore at Hearts is currently held by last season's top scorer, Youssef Chermiti.

After completing the transfer, Shankland expressed his excitement, stating, “I am delighted to be here and to have this opportunity. Rangers is my boyhood club, and it has always been a dream to play here, so I was really keen to get it done.” His arrival is expected to bolster Rangers' attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming season.
