LA Galaxy has officially signed Kyōgo Furuhashi, a standout forward who was named Scottish Premiership Player of the Year and won the Golden Boot. His addition is expected to enhance the team's offensive capabilities.

LOS ANGELES (July 21, 2026) – The LA Galaxy have officially announced the signing of forward Kyōgo Furuhashi from Birmingham City. The transfer agreement extends through the 2030-31 season, pending the acquisition of his P-1 Visa. Furuhashi will take up an International Slot on the Galaxy's roster.

Excitement Surrounds New Signing

Furuhashi's Impressive Career

At 31 years old, Furuhashi joins the Galaxy after a season with Birmingham City in the EFL Championship, where he netted three goals in 31 appearances across all competitions. Before his time in England, he played for Stade Rennais in France's Ligue 1, making six appearances after transferring from Celtic.

During his tenure with Celtic, Furuhashi made a significant impact, scoring 85 goals and providing 19 assists in 165 matches. His contributions helped the club secure eight domestic trophies, including four Scottish Premiership titles. Notably, he was a standout performer in European competitions, contributing goals against teams such as Atlético Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen. In the 2022/23 season, he achieved remarkable success, scoring 34 goals and earning both the Scottish Premiership Player of the Year and the Golden Boot.

International Experience

Furuhashi began his professional career with FC Gifu in Japan's J2 League before moving to Vissel Kobe in 2018, where he played a crucial role in winning the Emperor’s Cup and Japanese Super Cup in 2020. He also had a standout season in 2021, scoring 15 league goals in just 21 appearances. On the international stage, he has represented Japan 23 times since making his senior debut in 2019.
