LA Galaxy has officially announced the signing of midfielder Sergi Roberto, a former FC Barcelona and Spanish international, as a free agent. The contract extends through June 30, 2028, with an option for the 2028-2029 season, pending the acquisition of his P-1 Visa. Roberto joins the Galaxy after spending two seasons with Como 1907 in Italy’s Serie A, following an illustrious 18-year career at Barcelona.

Roberto's Impressive Career

During his time at Barcelona, Roberto made over 400 appearances for both club and country, securing 25 trophies. His tenure included seven La Liga titles, six Copa del Rey victories, six Spanish Super Cups, two UEFA Champions League trophies, two FIFA Club World Cups, and two UEFA Super Cups. He became a significant figure in Barcelona's history, particularly noted for his dramatic stoppage-time goal against Paris Saint-Germain on March 8, 2017, which completed a remarkable comeback in the UEFA Champions League.

Recent Achievements in Italy

Before joining LA Galaxy, the 34-year-old midfielder played for Como 1907, where he contributed to the club's top 10 finish in Serie A and helped secure their first UEFA Champions League qualification. In his 37 appearances for Como, he recorded one goal and one assist, including a notable performance that led to the club's first Coppa Italia quarterfinal appearance in 40 years.

LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz expressed enthusiasm about Roberto's signing, highlighting his leadership, technical skills, and championship experience. The addition of Roberto is expected to bolster the Galaxy's roster, as he reunites with former Barcelona teammate Riqui Puig.
