Jeremy Jacquet has officially joined Liverpool after completing a £60 million transfer from Rennes. The 20-year-old centre-back was unveiled following the commencement of his contract on July 1, 2026.

Transfer Details

Liverpool initially agreed to a £55 million deal with Rennes back in January, but Jacquet's move to Anfield was postponed until the end of the season. A shoulder injury sidelined him for the remainder of the campaign with the French club, but he has since recovered in time for Liverpool's pre-season preparations. The club also negotiated an additional £5 million in performance-related add-ons, which could bring the total transfer fee to £60 million. This transfer makes Jacquet the eighth-most expensive signing in Liverpool's history and positions him as a likely successor to Ibrahima Konate, who recently transferred to Real Madrid.

Jacquet's First Impressions

Upon his unveiling, Jacquet expressed his excitement about joining Liverpool, stating, “For me it’s a big dream, it’s a big club.” He also spoke highly of his new teammate Virgil van Dijk, saying, “Of course, I am very excited to be next to a great player like [Van Dijk].” Jacquet acknowledged Van Dijk's status as one of the best centre-backs in the world and emphasized his desire to learn from him.
