Iran's football federation is actively seeking clarification from FIFA regarding the issuance of World Cup visas, following the team's recent relocation of their training camp to Tijuana, Mexico. This move comes amid various diplomatic and logistical challenges affecting their preparations for the tournament.

Training Camp Relocation

The Iranian national team has shifted its training base from Arizona to Tijuana due to complications surrounding visa approvals. A senior official from the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) confirmed that they have formally requested FIFA to provide a timeline for when the necessary tournament visas will be issued. The need for this clarification arises from diplomatic tensions that have complicated travel arrangements for the team.

World Cup Participation Concerns

Iran is set to compete in all three of their Group G matches in the United States, facing New Zealand, Belgium, and Egypt. However, the team's participation in the World Cup, scheduled from June 11 to July 19, has been cast into doubt following military actions involving the US and Israel against Iran in late February. The relocation to Tijuana was approved by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and FIFA, allowing the team to continue their preparations.

FFIRI's Communication with FIFA

Mehdi Mohammadnabi, the first vice president of FFIRI, stated that they reached out to FIFA via email, requesting a prompt response regarding the visa issuance. He noted that the federation requires both multiple-entry Mexican and U.S. visas for their upcoming matches. According to Mohammadnabi, FIFA indicated that the administrative process for the visas is expected to be completed within the week.
