Houston Dynamo FC has strengthened their squad by signing Guilherme, the captain of Santos FC. The addition of the experienced midfielder aims to bolster the team's performance in the upcoming season.

Houston Dynamo FC has officially signed attacker Guilherme from Santos FC in Brazil, as announced by both clubs on January 13, 2026. The 30-year-old player has inked a contract that will keep him with the Dynamo until the end of the 2027-28 season, with an option for an additional year through 2028-29. Guilherme is expected to take up a Designated Player spot, pending the acquisition of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.

Guilherme's Experience and Impact

Guilherme brings a wealth of experience to Houston, having spent the majority of his career in Brazil’s top leagues. He has played for several prominent clubs, including Santos FC (2024-25), Botafogo (2017), Grêmio (2016-20 and 2022-23), Fortaleza (2023), and Chapecoense (2018). Throughout his career, he has made 121 appearances in Série A, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists, and has also played 97 matches in Série B, netting 30 goals and assisting 16 times.

His international and national competition experience is extensive, with 47 appearances in tournaments such as the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, and Copa do Brasil, where he has scored 10 goals and provided three assists. Notably, during the 2023 Copa Sudamericana, Guilherme scored four goals and assisted twice in 11 matches, contributing significantly to Fortaleza's journey to the Final. He was also part of the Grêmio team that clinched the Copa do Brasil title in 2016.

A Proven Leader

Guilherme has played a pivotal role in three significant promotions to Série A with Santos (2024), Grêmio (2022), and Sport Recife (2019). In his latest season, he captained Santos through a challenging relegation battle, contributing four assists in the final three matches, all of which were victories, ensuring the club's survival in the top tier. Over the course of the 2025 season, he made 46 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing nine assists, while in 2024, he achieved 13 goals and 10 assists in 46 matches, helping his team secure the Série B league title and promotion.

Guilherme will be available to the media at Houston Sports Park on January 15, following the team's first preseason training session.
