Chelsea has officially secured their first signing of the Xabi Alonso era, with midfielder Valentin Barco set to join from Strasbourg. This confirmation comes from renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who announced the agreement on social media.

Barco's Move to Chelsea

According to Romano, Chelsea has reached an agreement with RC Strasbourg for Barco, who has shown significant improvement during his time in Ligue 1. The deal is poised to be finalized, with Barco expected to make the move in June. Romano stated, “Chelsea agree deal to sign Valentín Barco, here we go!”

Barco, who recently bid farewell to Strasbourg via an Instagram post, enjoyed a productive season, contributing three goals and nine assists across 43 appearances. The 21-year-old Argentine returns to the Premier League after a brief stint at Brighton and will add depth to Chelsea's midfield options.

Competition for Places

At Chelsea, Barco will face competition from established midfielders such as Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandes, Romeo Lavia, and Andrey Santos.
