Gifted midfielder Nieuwenhof arrives on season-long loan from Hearts - Perth Glory
Perth Glory has announced the signing of gifted midfielder Nieuwenhof on a season-long loan from Hearts. This addition aims to strengthen the team's midfield ahead of the new season.

Perth Glory has announced the acquisition of talented defensive midfielder Calem Nieuwenhof on a season-long loan from Scottish Premiership side Heart of Midlothian. The 25-year-old, hailing from Sydney, is eager to make an impact in the A-League after his time in Scotland.
Career Progression
Calem Nieuwenhof began his football career at Manly United before making his A-League debut with Sydney FC in January 2021. The following year, he transferred to Western Sydney Wanderers, where he had a standout 2022/23 season, featuring in 27 matches and scoring four goals. His impressive performances earned him a spot in the PFA A-League Team of the Season and led to a four-year contract with Hearts. During his time in Edinburgh, he made nearly 50 appearances for the club.
Excitement for the New Challenge
Nuwenhof expressed his enthusiasm about joining Perth Glory, stating, “I’m super excited to be joining Perth Glory. I’m looking forward to getting back playing consistently and giving everything to help bring success to the club.” He also highlighted the club's potential and his hopes of competing for the title this season. Having previously worked with Head Coach Adam Griffiths and Assistant Coach Tomi Vidovic, Nieuwenhof is familiar with their high standards, which influenced his decision to join the team.
Impact on the Team
Stan Lazaridis, the Football Director at Perth Glory, believes Nieuwenhof will significantly contribute to the team's success in the upcoming season. He remarked, “Calem is a top-class player and securing his services is a real coup for us.” Lazaridis noted that Nieuwenhof's versatility allows him to play as either a six or an eight, emphasizing his ability to maintain and distribute the ball effectively. The club aims to secure a place in the Finals as they prepare for the new season.
Further announcements regarding the squad are expected soon as Perth Glory gears up for the 2026/27 A-League Men campaign.
