GFA wants Carlos Queiroz for long-term Black Stars role | FootyGHANA.com
The Ghana Football Association is reportedly interested in appointing Carlos Queiroz for a long-term role as head coach of the Black Stars, seeking to enhance the team's performance and consistency.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expressed a strong desire to appoint Carlos Queiroz as the long-term head coach of the Black Stars, following his tenure during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The GFA's Executive Council has unanimously recommended that Queiroz continue in his role, reflecting their positive assessment of his performance.
Unanimous Decision by the GFA
Henry Asante Twum, the GFA Communications Director, confirmed that the Executive Council, which holds the highest authority within the association, has reached a consensus on Queiroz's future. "The council, which is the highest decision-making body, after assessing the performance of Coach Carlos Queiroz, have agreed that the coach is made to stay," he stated.
Contractual Uncertainties Ahead
Despite the GFA's recommendation, Queiroz's future remains uncertain due to unresolved financial matters that could impact negotiations for a new contract. Asante Twum noted that any new agreement would require approval from the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, which is responsible for funding the coach's salary. "The final decision does not rest on the FA. It must go to the ministry for them to look at the contract and approve because they will pay the salary of the coach," he explained.
Asante Twum also mentioned that Queiroz has been informed of the Executive Council's decision, but he could not disclose the coach's reaction or the specifics of any financial proposals being discussed. The GFA, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, and Queiroz are expected to engage in further discussions to address the contractual and financial issues surrounding his potential long-term appointment.
Looking ahead, Ghana is set to face Cote d’Ivoire in their opening qualifier for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations on September 23.
