SC Freiburg has officially announced the acquisition of 21-year-old forward Keisuke Goto from Belgian club Anderlecht. Goto is set to join the Bundesliga side as he prepares to represent Japan in the upcoming World Cup.

Freiburg's board member Jochen Saier expressed enthusiasm about Goto's signing, highlighting his dynamic playing style. “We’re delighted to have brought in Keisuke, an exciting player with a number of promising attributes,” Saier stated. He noted Goto's ability to make runs behind defenses, his spatial awareness, and his proficiency in the penalty area. In his own words, Goto shared his reasons for choosing Freiburg, stating, “SC Freiburg showed a lot of interest in me a few months ago. From the very beginning, I felt that the club really wanted me, and that was one of the main reasons why I decided to join Freiburg.” He also expressed admiration for the club, having watched some of their Europa League matches, and conveyed his eagerness for the upcoming season.

Prior to his move to Freiburg, Goto had a successful loan spell at Sint-Truiden during the 2025/26 season, where he netted 13 goals and provided eight assists in 40 appearances.
