Fenerbahce sign Mason Greenwood from Marseille on four-year contract - BBC Sport

Fenerbahce has secured the signing of Mason Greenwood from Marseille on a four-year contract, enhancing their roster with the talented forward.

Fenerbahce has officially acquired English forward Mason Greenwood from Marseille, signing him to a four-year contract. The Turkish club announced a transfer fee of 39 million euros (£33.27 million), although they had previously indicated that the total fee would be 45 million euros (£38.36 million).

Greenwood's Performance in Ligue 1

During his time in Ligue 1, Greenwood made a significant impact, scoring 37 goals in 66 league appearances. In the 2025-26 season, he finished joint-second in the golden boot race, netting 16 goals, just behind Rennes' Esteban Lepaul.

Background and Previous Clubs

Before joining Fenerbahce, Greenwood had a successful stint at Marseille, where he scored 48 goals in 81 matches across all competitions after transferring from Manchester United for £26.6 million in July 2024. Manchester United had previously stated that they negotiated a "sizeable sell-on fee," estimated to be around 40%, for the academy graduate. Following an internal investigation, United decided against bringing Greenwood back to the club, even after charges of attempted rape and assault were dropped in February 2023. He spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Getafe in Spain.

Fenerbahce, who finished second in the Turkish Super Lig for the fifth consecutive season, is set to face Poland's Gornik Zabrze in the second qualifying round of the Champions League this month. Greenwood expressed his excitement about joining the club, stating, "Hello Fenerbahce family, thank you so much for the support you have shown me. I am very happy to be here."
