Fenerbahce and Lyon played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League playoff tie held in Istanbul on Tuesday. The match showcased a competitive battle between the two sides, with both teams creating opportunities throughout the game.

The Turkish side started the match with intent, generating their first significant chance in the ninth minute when Vedat Muriqi narrowly missed the target with a header from Matteo Guendouzi's cross. However, as the first half progressed, Lyon began to find their rhythm, with Tanner Tessmann registering the visitors' first shot on target in the 23rd minute, which was comfortably saved.

Fenerbahce's Mason Greenwood had the team's first shot on target in the 36th minute, but his low effort was also saved.
