FC Porto sign Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal on permanent deal - ESPN

FC Porto has completed the permanent signing of Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal. The move aims to strengthen Porto's defensive lineup for the new season.

FC Porto has officially secured the permanent signing of defender Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal, following a successful loan spell. The Poland international initially joined Porto last summer on a long-term loan that included a purchase option.

Details of the Transfer

The agreement between the two clubs featured a fixed fee of €17 million ($20 million), along with an additional €5 million ($5.9 million) in potential add-ons. In a statement released on Wednesday, FC Porto confirmed they have exercised the purchase option outlined in the loan agreement, granting them full registration and economic rights to Kiwior.

As part of the deal, Kiwior has signed a contract with Porto that extends until June 2030, which includes a release clause set at €70 million ($82.5 million). Arsenal will retain a fixed amount of €2 million ($2.4 million) should Kiwior be transferred in the future.

Impact at Porto

Kiwior, who joined Arsenal from Italian club Spezia in January 2023 for £17.3 million ($23.6 million), has made a significant impact during his time with Porto. The 26-year-old centre-back has featured in 25 league matches, contributing to Porto's success as they clinched the Portuguese championship with two games remaining in the season.

This transfer marks a new chapter for Kiwior as he continues his career in Portugal, having made a total of 68 appearances for Arsenal during his tenure with the club.
