FC Goa has officially signed Spanish defender Alex Zalaya as part of their strategy to enhance their defensive lineup for the upcoming season.

FC Goa has officially announced the signing of Spanish centre-back Alex Zalaya as they prepare for the upcoming 2026–27 season. The 28-year-old defender brings a wealth of experience from his time in Spanish football, having played for clubs such as Real Zaragoza, FC Barcelona B, Sporting de Gijón B, UD Logroñés, Extremadura UD, UD Ibiza, and Real Murcia.
Defensive Strengths
Zalaya is recognized for his composed and commanding presence in defense. He is particularly noted for his aerial ability, positional awareness, and confidence when in possession of the ball. His comfort in a possession-based system allows him to read the game intelligently and initiate attacks from the back, enhancing the quality and experience of FC Goa's defensive lineup.

Head Coach Gouramangi Singh expressed his enthusiasm about Zalaya's arrival, stating, “Alex is an experienced defender who brings calmness, quality, and maturity to the team.
