Félix Bacher signs five-year deal with Lyon after €4.3m Estoril transfer | OneFootball

Félix Bacher has officially joined Lyon on a five-year deal following a €4.3 million transfer from Estoril, enhancing Lyon's squad for the upcoming seasons.

Lyon has officially announced the signing of Félix Bacher from Estoril on a five-year contract, as confirmed by the club on Sunday. The transfer fee is reported to be €4.3 million, with potential add-ons reaching up to €800,000 and a 12.5% sell-on clause for any future profit.

Player Background and Career Development

The 25-year-old Austrian centre-back, standing at 1.90 meters, had been in negotiations for several weeks and was recently removed from Estoril’s pre-season activities, not participating in matches over the past week. Bacher, a former Austria U20 international, has made 58 appearances for Estoril since joining the club in 2024, scoring four goals during his tenure.

Ambitions at Lyon

Expressing his excitement about the move, Bacher stated that it is a significant moment for him and his family. He looks forward to creating memorable experiences this season and is eager to contribute fully to the club and its supporters. Bacher aims to lead on the pitch and give his all in every match.

Born in Lienz, Bacher began his career at SC Schwaz, before moving to Akademie Tirol and Wacker Innsbruck, where he debuted in Austria’s second tier. He made a January 2020 switch to SC Freiburg, playing for their reserve team before rising to prominence at WSG Tyrol. After joining Estoril two years ago, he established himself as one of the standout centre-backs in the Portuguese league, noted for his strength and anticipation.

With Bacher's arrival, Lyon now boasts four senior centre-backs: Moussa Niakhaté, Félix Bacher, Ruben Kluivert, and Clinton Mata. However, Bacher will not be available for the upcoming Champions League third qualifying round first leg against Sparta Prague, as Niakhaté is currently suspended.
