TIRANA, July 16 – Egnatia, the champions of Albania, have made history by qualifying for the second round of the UEFA Champions League after a commanding 6-1 victory over Moldova’s Petrocub in the return leg at the “Arena Egnatia.” This win follows a 1-1 draw in the first leg, showcasing Egnatia's impressive performance on home soil.

Dominant Performance

The team, managed by Nevil Dede, started the match with great intensity, taking an early lead in the 2nd minute thanks to a goal from Bitri. Albanese extended their advantage in the 30th minute, and an own goal from Platica further solidified Egnatia's dominance, bringing the score to 3-0 before halftime.

Continued Success in the Second Half

After the break, Egnatia maintained their aggressive style of play. Yago scored the fourth goal in the 58th minute, and although Petrocub managed to pull one back in the 63rd minute, Egnatia quickly responded. Bakayoko netted the fifth goal in the 84th minute, and Gruda capped off the scoring with a sixth goal in the closing moments of the match.

This resounding victory secures Egnatia's place in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, where they will face Slovenian club NK Celje as they continue their journey in European competition.
